Plunge-cut method:
The tool rollers have the same revolutions per minute and the same direction of rotation. The part turns without axial displacement. This is how threads with a high level of precision are created.

Through-feed method:
The thread is formed by an incline of the reel axis around the lead angle. The part gets an axial thrust and moves in a full turn around a thread lead. This is how overlong threads are manufactured.
